HADESTOWN TEEN EDITION | Academy Musical
Cast Size: 15-20 Students ages 12+ in the Production Cast

A poet. A song. A journey to the underworld. Anaïs Mitchell's Tony Award-winning Hadestown, retold in folk and jazz by the next generation of performers.

Usually Wednesdays & Thursdays 5:30-8:30pm & Saturday 12-5pm
*No rehearsals the weeks of Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year’s (There will be rehearsal on Saturday 1/2)

Performance Dates: January 21-31, 2027

Production Tuition $285

WHAT TO PREPARE FOR THE LIVE AUDITION:

Interested students should sign up for a 60 minute audition group time slot.

HOW TO PREPARE YOUR AUDITION:

Please sign up on the Audition Signup Genius for a “group auditions” or a “video audition” slot.

  • There will be a short group movement call at the top of each hour before students complete their individual auditions (nothing to prepare ahead of time).

  • Slate (state) your name & age.

  • Introduce your song tile and share why you chose that song.

  • Sing a song of your choosing in the style of the show. (32 bars; about 45 seconds will do.) *Please be prepared to use a track or bring sheet music

Videos must be sent as a YouTube link to education@lakecountryplayhousewi.org.

GENERAL AUDITION INFORMATION:

  • Students interested in being cast in a production workshop MUST AUDITION, either in-person or by submitting in a video.

  • Students cast, are placed by the directors in a production based on skill level, age, roles available and availability/conflicts.

  • Actors must be available for ALL TECH REHEARSALS (the week before performances) AND PERFORMANCES to be cast.

  • There is NO FEE to audition - Tuition will be assessed upon the acceptance of a role.

  • Auditions will take place in our Rehearsal Studios: 246 E. Capitol Dr. Hartland, WI 53029 (The basement of the church across the street from the Playhouse)

  • Casting is usually complete within 2 weeks of the callback dates listed. Unfortunately, we cannot cast everyone who auditions - we WISH we could! Either way, everyone who auditions will be notified of casting decisions via email as soon as possible.

All Academy classes, workshops and auditions will take place in our Rehearsal Studios: 246 E. Capitol Dr. Hartland, WI 53029.
