Whether you joined us on stage, in the audience, or behind the scenes, you’ve helped make this series special. We’d love to have you with us as we celebrate Kit’s incredible support and lasting legacy. Let’s pack the house and come together as a community..

For five unforgettable summers, Kit Seidel has brought the spirit of New York theater to life right here in Hartland. Inspired by the raw and riveting energy of professional staged readings she experienced in the city, Kit introduced our community to a powerful form of theater, one that strips away distractions and lets the words take center stage.

These plays weren’t chosen lightly. They were chosen for their honesty, complexity, and humanity. Across five seasons, we've journeyed through 28 stories that reflect resilience, reveal injustice, spotlight connection, and invite us to sit with life’s most profound questions. Each reading offered a shared moment of discovery made possible by Kit’s unwavering support and vision.

The Summer Staged Reading Series became more than a program. It became a tradition, a gathering place, and a gift to both artists and audiences. Kit didn’t just fund performances, she championed a space where actors could take risks, where audiences could lean in and listen deeply, and where storytelling thrived.

Her generosity also made possible a fully staged production of Our Town, a play that beautifully mirrors the spirit of the readings: simple, sincere, and steeped in meaning.

Though this marks the end of our official seasonal summer Staged Readings under Kit Seidel’s sponsorship, we are inspired by the artistic community she has helped build.

Let’s raise a glass to Kit and to the stories we’ve shared.
