Classes run in 8 week sessions unless otherwise noted. Class times and days are subject to change slightly from one session to the next, but we do our best to keep consistent so you can plan in advance! All Academy classes, workshops and auditions will take place in our Rehearsal Studios: 111 Church St. Hartland, WI 53029.
Keep in mind that classes are designed to be repeated - choose classes based on the skills you would like to improve upon. Age ranges are guidelines - If you believe your child should be considered for a class outside of their age range based on prior experience please contact us for guidance and approval. Explore theatre through a variety of educational classes, workshops and productions for all ages.
PETITE PERFORMERS | Ages 3 & 4
Journey through the worlds of sound, rhythm, movement, and improvisation. Classic children’s stories and sensory exercises are used to increase awareness, strengthen concentration and inspire creative spontaneity and imagination.
STORYBOOK THEATRE | Ages 5-7
Mondays 4:30-5:25pm or Saturdays 9:15-10:10am
Storybooks come to life in this beginner drama class as students will learn basic acting and presentation skills through imaginative play, theatre games, and character building activities. This class encourages communication, collaboration, and understanding of story structure!
THE ACTOR TOOLBOX I | Ages 8-14
Wednesdays 6:15-7:25pm or Thursday 4:30-5:40pm
We are filling the "Actor's Toolbox" with tools necessary for building strong characters in this beginner acting class! Students will learn and apply acting principles and theatre etiquette through warm-ups, exciting games, and scene study. This class encourages exploration, relationship skills, and critical thinking!
THE ACTOR TOOLBOX II | Ages 10-18
DIALECTS & VOICE | Wednesdays 7:30-8:40pm
MONOLOGUE REP | Thursday 5:45-6:55pm
We are filling the "Actor's Toolbox" with tools necessary for building strong characters in this Intermediate/Advanced acting class! Students will learn and apply acting principles and theatre etiquette through warm-ups, exciting games, and scene study. This class encourages exploration, relationship skills, and critical thinking!
IMPROV | Ages 8-18
Wednesday 5:00-6:10pm or Saturday 10:15-11:25pm
No scripts, no memorizing, just fun!! Young performers will use their imaginations, take risks, and learn how to be in the moment in this fun and energetic improv class! As a team they will create characters, relationships, and scenes unscripted! This class encourages collaboration, mental flexibility, and comedic timing.
BROADWAY DANCE | Ages 8-18
Wednesdays 7:30-8:40pm or Saturday 9:00-10:10am
Get ready to dance till you drop! Students will learn and apply basic theatrical dance techniques in Ballet, Jazz and Tap to Broadway favorites! This class encourages physical awareness, coordination and musicality in movement!
TECHNICAL THEATRE | Ages 10-18
Tuesdays*5:30-7:30pm (*5 weeks session aligning with rehearsals for Music Man Jr. Sep 10-Oct 8, 2019)
Students will have their hands in every step of the creative process; exploring workshops in costuming, prop, stage management, set building, and lighting, and have their work showcased on stage in LCP MainStage and Academy productions!
STAGE MAKEUP| Ages 10-18
Tuesdays*5:30-7:30pm (*5 weeks session Oct 22-Nov 19, 2019)
Students will learn about products, tools and techniques of makeup application for the stage including basic highlight and shadow, character make-up, old age make-up and injury. This class is hands-on and encourages attention to detail and artistry. Additional fees may be required for make-up supplies.
VOICE TOOLBOX | Ages 10-18
Aspiring singers participate in a series of group voice lessons to establish their vocal technique and create harmonies through ensemble work, and use their "toolboxes" to explore and bring characters to life through music in their solo selections. Students will also have the opportunity to collaborate on and perform in an invited showcase. This class encourages vocal technique, work ethic, and self-expression.
YOGA FOR THE ACTOR | Ages 10-18
Tension and nervous energy can be the Achilles heel of any actor - especially in an audition or performance setting. Through this class, our young actors will establish a connection between their minds, body and breath. Increased breath capacity and core strength will help support their voices, and quiet their minds when stakes are high, and guided meditation helps develop sensory awareness and the ability to imagine realistic environments on stage. This class encourages strength, mindfulness and creativity.
STAGE COMBAT| Ages 10-18
Students will learn basic fight choreography with hand-to-hand combat and swordplay and choreograph an exciting fight scene! This class encourages safety, physicality, and presentation skills!
MUSICAL SCENE STUDY | Ages 13+
With particular focus on character development for the musical theatre performer and building upon the acting, voice, and dance foundations presented Actor Toolbox I & II, Voice Toolbox, and Broadway Dance, students will work to address the acting and stylistic requirements of the musical theatre scene. Recommended for teenage actors with experience in both acting and healthy vocal production as this class will focus on enhancing techniques, not starting from the beginning.
AUDITION WORKSHOP| Ages 8+
November 11, 13 & 15 (Discount available if enrolling in advance for more than one) 5pm-7pm
Our Audition Workshops are perfect for new performers to be introduced to the audition process, as well as helping polish our more seasoned performer’s audition materials. You'll work directly with the directors of PPAA productions so that by audition day you are comfortable and confident! We will discuss monologue selection, learn how to warm-up and stay calm, and most importantly, master audition etiquette! Come with something to work on, or use the materials provided. Students will walk away feeling like an audition pro!
$25/2-hour workshop. $20 if enrolled for more than one in advance (just email to reserve your spot)
